A Muslim merchant needs to understand some essential matters related to their affairs. How many an individual claiming Salafiyyah has a business yet it may be that his transactions are far from following the principles laid down with the religion of al-Islam.
It also applies to those that are not merchants as we all have some kind of daily business transactions being it buying bread and milk or other than that.
'Alee ibn Abee Taalib (رضي الله عنه) was reported to have said:
من اتجر قبل أن يتفقه ارتطم في الربا ثم ارتطم ثم ارتطم
"Whoever engages in trade before learning the Fiqh (of transactions) falls into ribaa (usury), again and again!"
Abul-'Abbaas Moosaa Richardson (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) mentioned this narration was mentioned by Ibn al-Atheer in an-Nihaayah
