In These Times, Advising a Ruler Who Commits Major Kufr - Abu Umar Farooq

Here is an answer to the following question that was asked to Abu Umar Farooq (rahimahullah Ta'ala), extracted from a series of lectures in which he read the explanation of Usool us-Sunnah at Masjid bin Baaz, London.

If you see a ruler commit kufr (disbelief), major disbelief, in this day and age, how do you advise him?  Someone told me, Imam Ahmad and Ibn Taymiyyah used to advise them publicly?

He (rahimahullah Ta'ala) gave the following answer:
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]
