Is the Innovator Worse than the Disbeliever? - Shaykh Saaleh al-Luhaydaan

This is a question I believe that was asked of Shaykh Saaleh al-Luhaydaan.(rahimahullah Ta'ala) at the end of a lesson from a series he delivered in Riyadh for the Westerns on the explanation of Kitab at-Tawheed.  This particular lesson was translated by Mustafa George (hafidhahullah Ta'ala).

The question was downloaded from a post on the X account attributed to our shaykh.  I was then digitally edited, before being posted below, walhamdulillah.

He (rahimahullah Ta'ala) was asked:

Is the one who is the innovator, worse than the kafir (disbeliever)?

He (rahimahullah Ta'ala) gave the following answer:
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]
