Offering Condolences to Non-Muslim Neighbours - Hasan as-Somali

Here is an answer to a question that was recently posted on the official Telegram channel of Hasan as-Somali (hafidhahullah Ta'ala)

The question asked was:  Our next door neighbours are disbelievers. When someone passes away from their family, is it permissible to say "sorry for your loss"?

If it's not permissible, then what is the correct thing to say?

He (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) gave the following answer:
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]
