Here is an answer to a question (no. 103) that was recently posted on the official Telegram channel of Hasan as-Somali (hafidhahullah Ta'ala)
The question asked was: Smoking cigarettes. One of my friends is Alhamdu lillah a good practising Muslim, but he smokes 10+ cigarettes a day. I tried to convince him by saying It harms your health, which is Haram, and it wastes your money which is also Haram. But he always mentions that the Deobandi preachers don't call it Haram but only consider it disliked. Is this correct?
He (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) gave the following answer:
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]
