In November of 2011, I flew back to the UK from Saudi Arabia. The following day as we finished Salatul-Dhur at my local masjid, I noticed that my son was crying, I took him to one side and asked him what had happened and he informed me that Abu Talhah Dawud Burbank and Umm Talhah (rahimahumullah Ta'ala) had died in a fire on a bus in Jeddah. The ironic thing is, at that time, I only lived about 3 miles away from that exact spot. For many years, I drove past that burned barrier in the middle of that highway almost daily.
Abu Talhah and Umm Talhah (rahimahumullah Ta'ala) were some truly amazing people whom Allah had enabled the Salafees to benefit from in their understanding of this blessed dawah.
The clip is about the fact that we shouldn't take life for granted and that death could come anytime to us. No one can even guarantee the next 24 hours, never mind the next week, month, or year.
Abu Talhah and Umm Talhah (rahimahumullah Ta'ala) died in Jeddah but were buried in Makkah, their Janazah was prayed by about 2 million people in Masjid al-Haram during the days of Hajj. Maybe, one day, I will tell you what Abu Zeiad Khalid Bagais (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) told me about this whole incident, in shaa Allah.
The image used above is of the actual bus they were on. Everyone else got off and only they died (rahimahumullah Ta'ala).
In this clip, Abu Idrees Muhammad (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) brings back this reality from his experience on that day with the same group that Abu Talhah and his family had gone to Hajj with. From the lecture titled: Virtue of Time and Kindness Towards Parents.
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]
