The following (rather long benefit has been extracted from the 6th & 7th lecture from a series of 24 lectures by Abu Suhayl Anwar Wright (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) of a series taught at Germantown Masjid titled:Summarized Rulings on Funeral Rights from the book of Shaykh al-Albani (rahimahullah Ta'ala).

He (rahimahullah Ta'ala) covers the fact that it become incumbent upon a group of people to hasten in this matter. Covering the 14 matters that need to be observed when doing so.
He (rahimahullah Ta'ala) also mentions the great reward of washing the deceased and it being connected to two conditions.
He (rahimahullah Ta'ala) further goes on to mentions the recommendation that the person washing the deceased take a ghusl.
Finally, he (rahimahullah Ta'ala) mentions the fact that it is not legislated to wash the martyr who is killed on the battlefield, even if he was in the state of sexual impurity.
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]
