What Gave Salman Rushdie the Opportunity to Write His Book? - Shaykh Badee Uddin Shah

The following clip was extracted from a lecture titled: Protecting the Honour & Glory of Islam by Shaykh Badee Uddin Shah (rahimahullah Ta'ala).

Salman Rushdie is a British Indian writer who wrote a book called Satanic Verses, which was published in 1988 and became one of the most controversial books in recent times.  That was and still is blasphemous with regard to the belief of orthodox Muslims.  It lead to Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini (may Allah give him what he deserves) issuing a fatwa against the author in 1989, enjoining Muslims to kill not only Rushdie but also his editors and publishers.

Violent demonstrations followed in Pakistan; copies of the novel were burned in Britain,  where several bookstores were bombed; and the work was banned in several countries.

Listen to what our Shaykh (rahimahullah Ta'ala) had to say about the reasons behind this opportunity that allowed the writing of this book.
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]
