Here is another very comprehensive answer by Abu Khadeejah Abdul-Waahid (hafidhahulllah Ta'ala) on the specific issue of whether demonstrations & protests are permissible or impermissible in the religion of Islam.

During the seminar titled: The Noble Men who met the Messenger, a short lecture was delivered by Rasheed Barbee (hafidhahullah Ta'ala), titled: Khalid ibn Waleed.

Although the title mentions the name of this great Sahabee (companion).  It contains some brief biographies of 3 companions and a benefit about an-Najashee, the King of Abyssinia at that time.

On an occasion, whilst waiting for a tele-link with Shaykh 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree (rahimahullah Ta'ala) Abu Khadeejah 'Abdul-Waahid (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) took some questions regarding relationships, family & schooling.

Is talking or communicating via WhatsApp and other platforms where you are not speaking directly meaning that you’re not speaking verbally or vocally to the opposite sex to look for a potential person to gauge in terms of characteristics for marriage then is that permissible?
