Before You Give Da'wah, Think it Through! - Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn

Here is a very important point that we all fall short in from time to time when giving da'wah.  We are so caught up in the moment that we forget to think about the needs of the one we are giving da'wah to.  We don't think about the common ground that we may already have with that person or people.  Things of commonality that will help us close the distance that we need to cover on this journey of inviting them to Islam.

Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn
(hafidhahulllah Ta'ala) mentions a beautiful point in this regard in the lecture titled: How to Actually Develop Good Character.
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]

Whoever Leaves Something For Allah Allah Will Give Him Something Better! - Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn

This is an Eid-ul-Fitr khutbah by Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn (hafidhullah Ta'ala) from about 8 years ago.  I found it a while back, posted on a SoundCloud accountIt is the only audio file on that account.

When speaking of how a person leaves something correctly for the sake of Allaah and of a person’s truthfulness in that; Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah Ta'ala) said: “Indeed; one may find difficulty in abandoning the things that are customary as well as the habits – that being for whoever abandons them for other than Allaah. As for the one who abandons it truthfully and sincerely from his heart; then he finds no difficulty in abandoning it – except in the initial instant – in order for him to be tested as to: whether he is truthful in its abandonment or untruthful? So if he is patient upon that difficulty for a short period, then it transforms into pleasant delight.

Ibn Sireen (rahimahullah Ta'ala) said: ‘I heard Shuraih swear by Allaah; that a servant never abandoned anything for the sake of Allaah; and subsequently found bereavement over it.’

As for their saying: ‘whoever leaves off something for Allaah; then Allaah will replace it with better than it’ – this is true, and the replacement can be of various types. The most outstanding of that which one can be granted replacement is that of: acquaintance with Allaah and of having love for Him and the tranquillity of the heart with regards to Him along with its strength and its enthusiasm and its delight and pleasure of its Lord, The Most-High.

The most foolish of people is the one who strayed at the very end of his journey – and yet had neared the abode (destination).” (Taken from: Rawdhatul Muhibbeen p.600-601 & Al-Fawaa-id p.250)

The audio has been digitally edited and is now being posted here.

Warning Against Speaking Ill of the Sahabah & the Wasting of Time - Abdulilah Lahmami

Here are two warning by Abdulilah Lahmami (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) rolled in to one.

The first is a warning against those who speak ill of the Companions and the second is a warning against wasting time with that which is of no benefit.

It has been extracted from the lecture delivered on the 28th of October 2022, titled: The Four Young Companions Named ‘Abdullāh – May Allāh Be Pleased With Them.

It has been digitally edited before being posted below, walhamdulillah.

Without any further ado here is that highly beneficial reminder for us all.

Islam is Compassion & Mercy, Even to Animals - Abdulilah Lahmami

The following benefit was extracted from the lecture titled: The Message of Abraham, Jesus and Muhammad

Islam is a religion of compassion and mercy contrary to what its enemies may try to make it appear.  Look at how Islam legislates our dealings with animals and then ask yourself if such a merciful religion would truly allow the indiscriminate killing of innocent men, women & children!

During a Fitnah should we Look at Both Sides? - Shaykh Saalim Bamihriz

At the end of the second part of the lecture which I titled:  Returning to the Fundamentals of the ReligionShaykh Saalim (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) answered some questions that were put forward.

He (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) was asked:   In times of Fitna or trial, some people advise others to look at both sides of the situation and to be just,  in doing so, by looking at the proofs so as not to blind-follow. Is this correct advice?

He (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) gave the following answer:
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]

What is the Ruling on Visiting the Dead Sea? - Shaykh 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree

This recording has been taken from the Miraath Publications website & has been digitally remastered (a little) to remove a little echo & background noise, walhamdulilah.

Shaykh 'Ubayd Al-Jaabiree (rahimahullah Ta'ala) was asked the following question:

If we have difficulties with our husband, can we speak to other sisters for advice? How can this be achieved without backbiting?

He (rahimahullah Ta'ala) gave the following answer which was translated by Abbas Abu Yahya (hafidhahullah Ta'ala):
Transcription of the answer:

The Shaykh (hafidhahullaah) responded by saying that I presume the reason for this question is what is widespread amongst the people, which is well known amongst the people and related to the people, that the (bahr al mayit) the Dead Sea which is in Jordan, is the place or the village of the people of Lut (alayhis sallam). And we know from the hadeeth of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), where he prohibited that a person should go to places where a group or nation has been destroyed and punished (by Allaah). If he does go past that place, then he should pass through it quickly.[1]

The prohibition from the Prophet (ﷺ), which is that if one passes through these places that he should cry or at least pretend to cry. The Shaykh says we do not have any yakeen (certainty) that this was the actual place. So due to that, there is nothing to prevent somebody from visiting this place for tourism nor anything to prevent a person from using the products made from the materials or substances from the Dead Sea.

1. Ibn Shihab reported, and he had been talking about the stony abodes of Thamud, and he said: Salim b. ‘Abdullah reported that ‘Abdullah b. Umar said, We were passing along with Allaah’s Messenger (ﷺ) through the habitations of Hijr, and Allaah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: Do not enter but weepingly the habitations of these persons who committed tyranny among themselves, lest the same calamity should fall upon you as it fell upon them. He then urged his mount to proceed quickly and pass through that valley hurriedly. Saheeh Muslim [2980b]

(ﷺ) sallAllaahu alayhi wasallam- May Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace.
