There are NO Scholars in the West - Abu Uwais Abdullah Ali

Here is a revival of a true classic.  One of the earliest lectures I ever heard by Abu Uwais Abdullah Ali (rahimahullah Ta'ala).

Just to give you a back story to this particular post, I was reminded of it today when travelling with a beloved brother from Makkah.  He mentioned that he had this lecture on cassette tape many years ago and the fact that it was possibly the earliest lecture of Abu Uwais he ever remembers listening to.

Upon reaching home, I managed to locate the original recording and decided to try and edit it, with the intent of releasing it once more.

In a time when people just want everything to be perfect.  We made the best of what we had.  We would attend a conference and look forward to the breaks so that we could go to the Salafi bookstore and find the latest tapes that were being released.

Being spoilt for choice in these times, I really believe many of us have lost that zeal of appreciating the blessings that we have.

Here is that classic lecture, digitally edited.  Far from digital quality, but I would like you to compare it to the original recording that will also be posted just below it.  Then, you may (if Allah wills) appreciate the edited recording that is being made available.

I will also be posting the original recording at the end of this post just to show you how poor the quality was, yet we still listened to it and took immense benefit from it!

A Tremendous Advice to Imam Ahmad from Jaabir Ibn 'Aamir - Abul-Hasan Malik

One of the greatest fitan in the history of al-Islam is the fitnah that took place in the time of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (rahimahullah Ta'ala).  The fitnah of the khalq al-Quran (Qu'ran being created).  Many great scholars lost their lives during these testing times.

Here a benefit from Abul-Hasan Malik (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) that he mentioned during a lecture about the life of Imam Ahmad during the Winter Conference of 2018 at Germantown Masjid.

Be Careful Who You Call a Hizbee! - Abu Uwais Abdullah Ali

Here is a very important lecture by Abu Uwais Abdullah Ali Abu Uwais Abdullah Ali (rahimahullah Ta'ala) which highlights some very important principles about when who should and shouldn't labelled a hizbee!

Sometimes we hear people using this term correctly and at other times we have heard people using this incorrectly.

When applied incorrectly it becomes a term of oppression for which that individual will be held accountable in front of Allah and as such, this is a term a needs to be understood.

May Allah enable us to understand and implement that which we hear, Aameen.

Imam ash-Shaafi'ee's Judgement on the People of Kalaam (Theological Rhetoric) - Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn

Here is a beautiful benefit that Ustadh Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) brings during the 4th class of the series titled: Holding Fast To The Salafi Methodology from Imam ash-Shaafi'ee (rahimahullah Ta'ala) with regards to his ruling regarding the people of theological rhetoric.

It has been digitally edited before being posted below.
Here are some more of the statements of the Ulema on the people of theological rhetoric:

Ibn ‘Abdul-Barr said, “The people of Fiqh and Aathaar in all the various towns and cities are agreed unanimously that the Ahlul-Kalaam (People of Theological Rhetoric) are (but) Ahlul-Bida’ waz-Zaigh (the People of Innovations and Deviation). And they are not considered, by all of the above, to be amongst the ranks of the Scholars (in truth).” [Reported by Ibn Qudaamah in his Burhaan fee Bayaanil-Qur’aan.]

Imam ash-Shaafi’ee (d. 204H) said, “That a person is put to trial with everything that Allaah has forbidden, besides Shirk, is better than that he looks at Kalaam (theological rhetoric).” He also said, “If people knew what (misleading and destructive) desires are contained within theological rhetoric they would certainly flee from it as they would from a lion,”

He also said, “Whoever showed boldness in approaching theological rhetoric will never prosper.” [Reported by Ibn Qudaamah in his Burhaan fee Bayaanil-Qur’aan.]

Aboo Yoosuf, the companion of Aboo Haneefah said, “Whoever sought knowledge by kalaam (theological rhetoric) will turn a heretical apostate,” and Ahmad ibn Hanbal (d. 241H) said, “The person of theological rhetoric will never prosper. And never do you see anyone looking into theological rhetoric except that in his heart is a desire for creating mischief.” [Both narrations are reported by Ibn Qudaamah in his Burhaan fee Bayaanil-Qur’aan.]

Muhammad Ibn Seereen (d. 110H) said, “They (i.e., the Companions and the Taabi’een) used to consider themselves upon the path (of truth) so long as they held onto the narrations.” [Reported by al-Laalikaa’ee in his Sharh Usolil It’iqaad, no. 110.]

Shaadh ibn Yahyaa said, “There is no path which is more straight and direct (in leading) to Paradise than the path of the one who travels upon the aathaar (narrations).” [Reported by al-Laalikaa’ee in his Sharh UsoolilIt’qaad no. 112.]

‘Abdullah ibn al-Mubaarak (d. 181H) said, “I found that the affair was Ittibaa’ (following and imitation, i.e., following and submission to the narrations).” [Reported by al-Laalikaa’ee in his Sharh Usoolil-l’tiqaad, no. 113]

Verily, We Belong to Allah - Abu Uwais Abdullah Ali

Sometimes we need to get back to a sense of reality.  We need a reminder that makes us reflect on the fact that this world is in fact temporary and that we and these things in this world do not belong to us, but we are all the property of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala).

Here is such a lecture by Abu Uwais Abdullah Ali (rahimahullah Ta'ala). It was delivered on the evening of the 25th of Rabi al-Awwal 1424 (corresponding with the 26th May 2003).  A year or so before he passed away (rahimahullah Ta'ala)

Unfortunately, the lecture finishes abruptly but nonetheless contains many benefits.  it has been very slightly edited to improve its overall quality.
