Here is an excellent lecture I found online.  I was not able to find where it was originally posted. In it, Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) breaks down the purpose of our creation, into its most simple form.  A lecture we can all benefit from, in shaa Allah as well as giving it to our non-Muslim family and friends.

How evil can an evil companion be?  Could they be so bad that they would desire the killing of the Muslims? Could they be so cruel that they could want the killing of a ruler?  Could they be so evil that they could want the assassination of a leader of the believers?

Here is the story of one such individual, Qatam, the evil advisor to Abdur-Rahman ibn Muljam, the assassin of Ali ibn Abi Taalib (radiAllahu anhu) as narrated by Hasan as-Somali (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) in the lecture titled: The Khawaarij The Murderers of Ali.
