What is the Best of Good Character - Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn

When the faults of people are pointed out, we often hear people accusing us of being shameless.  Why are we refuting him openly and causing fitnah?  What we should be doing is to approach this personality directly and advise him, rather than exposing his faults to the people.  They suggest that we should approach this individual and open a dialogue with him and as such advise him with regards to his affairs (even if he/she is openly calling to misguidance through their various social media platforms.  As in the case of the likes of "Mufti" Menk and others.

Having good character/manners with Allah is more important than having good manners with the creation

Listen to what Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) says in the following extracted benefit from the lecture titled: The Adab of the Muslim.
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]

The benefit that I have brought today may be something new for many of us.

Palindromes - Excessiveness in the Arabic Language - Abul-'Abbaas Moossa Richardson

Here is the definition of a palindrome: A palindrome /ˈpalɪndrəʊm/ is a word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backward as forwards, e.g. madam or nurses run.

Many years ago, whilst delivering a lecture on the tafseer of some of the suwar (pl. of surah) Abul-'Abbaas Moosaa Richardson (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) addressed this issue of some individuals you try to explain the miracle of the Qur'an by stating that it contains palindromes.  Here is what he (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) stated about this issue:
Here is a clip of the individual who has become famous in this time for doing this, Nauman Ali Khan (may Allah guide him) with his tafseer of the Quran, who is following the way of the magicians, in this affair. As you will hear in this clip, this individual has no shame, and his arrogance is clear for all to see:
To further highlight the grave mistakes of this individual, watch the video: Nouman Ali Khan & the Fake "Pokieman" Hadeeth also by Ustadh Moosaa Richardson (hafidhahullah Ta'ala).

The Alternative Solution:

It is only one click away, in shaa Allah.  But first, you have to abandon Nauman Ali Khan, making the intention never to return to him, for this alternative to benefit you. Tafsir ibn Kathir by Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis (hafidhahullah Ta'ala).

Protecting the Family & Raising Children - Abu 'Iyaad Amjad Rafiq

The following was posted along with the audio on Learn About Islam SoundCloud account:

In this talk to the children of our tuition club, Abu 'Iyaad Amjad Rafiq (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) discusses the stages of life:

Stage 1 - age 0 until 7 - play and exploration at this stage you have no responsibilities.

Stage 2 - 7 until 15 - learning for the future. You learn to prepare to become independent from your parents and become full adults. You should spend more time with your parents to learn from them. Parents should teach their children, especially Tawheed.

Stage 3 - age 15 until 40 - the most important part of your life. The main part of your life, where you will be tested by Allah.

You start to notice changes in your body. You know what is right from wrong and you will be held accountable for your deeds.

Shaykh al-Fawzaan said there are 4 things you should focus on by the time you are 15:

1. Parents must teach about Tawheed
2. Learn in detail about the religion in a systematic manner
3. Learn a skill or trade so that you can support yourself and your family.
4. Learn about manners

Abu Iyaad explains these 4 points in detail

Questions from the children:

Are there any more stages after the age of 40?
What should single-parent families do?
What should orphans do?
What if you are deaf/blind?

Before You Give Da'wah, Think it Through! - Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn

Here is a very important point that we all fall short in from time to time when giving da'wah.  We are so caught up in the moment that we forget to think about the needs of the one we are giving da'wah to.  We don't think about the common ground that we may already have with that person or people.  Things of commonality that will help us close the distance that we need to cover on this journey of inviting them to Islam.

Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn
(hafidhahulllah Ta'ala) mentions a beautiful point in this regard in the lecture titled: How to Actually Develop Good Character.
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]

Whoever Leaves Something For Allah Allah Will Give Him Something Better! - Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn

This is an Eid-ul-Fitr khutbah by Abu Suhailah 'Umar Quinn (hafidhullah Ta'ala) from about 8 years ago.  I found it a while back, posted on a SoundCloud accountIt is the only audio file on that account.

When speaking of how a person leaves something correctly for the sake of Allaah and of a person’s truthfulness in that; Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah Ta'ala) said: “Indeed; one may find difficulty in abandoning the things that are customary as well as the habits – that being for whoever abandons them for other than Allaah. As for the one who abandons it truthfully and sincerely from his heart; then he finds no difficulty in abandoning it – except in the initial instant – in order for him to be tested as to: whether he is truthful in its abandonment or untruthful? So if he is patient upon that difficulty for a short period, then it transforms into pleasant delight.

Ibn Sireen (rahimahullah Ta'ala) said: ‘I heard Shuraih swear by Allaah; that a servant never abandoned anything for the sake of Allaah; and subsequently found bereavement over it.’

As for their saying: ‘whoever leaves off something for Allaah; then Allaah will replace it with better than it’ – this is true, and the replacement can be of various types. The most outstanding of that which one can be granted replacement is that of: acquaintance with Allaah and of having love for Him and the tranquillity of the heart with regards to Him along with its strength and its enthusiasm and its delight and pleasure of its Lord, The Most-High.

The most foolish of people is the one who strayed at the very end of his journey – and yet had neared the abode (destination).” (Taken from: Rawdhatul Muhibbeen p.600-601 & Al-Fawaa-id p.250)

The audio has been digitally edited and is now being posted here.
