On Wednesday evening the 14 of August 2026, millions of Europeans will (in shaa Allah) experience a solar eclipse. A wide band of north and central Spain, plus a sliver of Portugal and parts of Greenland and Iceland will experience a rare total eclipse. The light of the setting sun will be virtually blocked out across much of western Europe, including the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland and northern Italy.

Here is what you need to know about such an occurrence, from an Islamic perspective, as taught by Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis (hafidhahullah Ta'ala)

We often hear of people spending time in prison as Muslims and before embracing  Some of these people fondly remember the reasons foe which they were locked up. Stabbing someone, shooting someone else, dealing drugs or even killing a person or many people.  

Even after Islam, some of these individuals shamelessly talk about their life of crime often glorifying their experiences and their "perceived" reputation "on the streets.

Listen to the narrations about his time in prison and learn about the sacrifices that he, and others like him have made for the sake of preserving this religion that you  are following today.

This rather long benefit has been extracted from the second lecture in the two-part series delivered by Hasan as-Somali (hafidhahullah Ta'ala) that I previously posted, titled: The Biography of Ibn Taymiyyah. 

Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever invites to guidance will be rewarded like those who follow him in the guidance are rewarded, and that will not decrease the reward of those who have followed him." [Collected by Imām Muslim]

At the end of the summer conference organised by Salafi Publications, some closing words and advice was given by Abu Khadeejah Abdul-Waahid & Abu Hafsah Kashiff Khan (hafidhahumullah Ta'ala). 

A little part of the advice of the latter, was a challenge, to himself and to us.

"Garments, Not Enemies" is a lecture delivered at Masjid Daar us Sunnah on the 6th of August 2026, by Hasan as-Somali (hafidhahullah Ta'ala), which addressed modern online gender wars and the true Islamic view of marriage.

• The Qur'anic Verse: هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّ  “They are garments for you, and you are garments for them.” [Qur’an 2:187]
• Spousal Relationship: In Islam, husbands and wives are meant to act as garments—providing each other with comfort, warmth, protection, and dignity—instead of treating each other as opponents, competitors, or burden
